Copy/Paste Project Sheet feature along with any other features as needed from the Layers data frame to the Overview and Index data frames
This could include basemaps, roads, parcels, or any other features you would like to be represented in the index and overview data frames for your staking sheets.
Set Up the Overview Data Frame
Right Click the Overview Data Frame and select Properties
On the Data Frame Tab, ensure the following settings:
Extent: Other Data Frame
Derive extent from another data frame’s extent: Layers
Margin: 125%
On the Extent Indicator Tab, ensure the following settings:
Move Layers (if it displays here) from the left to the right
If desired, under the Frame tab, you can choose the properties of the sheet outline in the overview panel
In the Data Frame Properties window, select ‘Apply’ to save changes, then click OK to close the Data Frame Properties window.
Save your Map Document
Set up Data Driven Pages
Prior to setting up Data Driven Pages at least one staking sheet must be placed in the map. To learn more about placing sheets, please see our Article on Project Planner
From the ArcMap Menu along the top of the page, Select Customize -> Toolbars -> Data Driven Pages
Dock the newly opened toolbar and click the first icon - Data Driven Page Setup
Under the Definition tab, ensure the following settings:
Check Mark next to Enable Data Driven Pages
Data Frame: Layers
Layer: Sheet
Name Field: Sheet Name
Sort Field: Sheet Number
Rotation: Angle for DDP
Spatial Reference: None
Page Number: Sheet Number
Under the Extent tab, ensure the following settings:
Select Data Driven Scale: Scale
Click OK to save changes and close the setup window
